The Facts


What is e2e?

e2e stands for entry to employment.
It’s a programme you can do to help you get into college, an apprenticeship or a job.

Who can do e2e?

Anyone who is aged 16 to 18 and not already on a course, an apprenticeship or a job. In special situations people up to age 25 may be able to do e2e. For example if you have been ill or taken time out to have a baby.

Will I get paid?

You will get an EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance) of £30 a week.

You will also get travel expenses and may get the costs of any childcare.
Your parents will be able to carry on claiming Child Benefit and usually Child Tax Credits for you.

Talk to your Connexions personal adviser in school, or if you’ve left school, at your local Connexions centre.

e2e or ‘Entry to Employment’ can help you to get ready for work or further learning.  You will have a programme worked out for you that meets your needs. e2e can help you gain confidence and learn life skills. You can also learn job-hunting skills and choose which job to train for by trying out a few different ones.  Having completed an e2e programme you should be able to move on to an apprenticeship, go to college or get a job.

Pay on e2e

Young people on e2e can apply for EMA - Education Maintenance Allowance. All young people on e2e will receive the maximum £30 weekly EMA payment, regardless of their household income. Also while you are on e2e your parents will be able to carry on claiming Child benefit and Child Tax Credits for you up to your 20th birthday.

You will also be able to apply for money from an Access or Hardship fund. There is a limited amount of cash available and it will go to the most needy students – ask your e2e provider for details.

You will be able to claim all your travel costs– ask your e2e provider for details.
 

Applying for e2e

In Year 11 you can apply for e2e on the Leicester and Leicestershire Common Application Form (LeCAP). You should be be able to apply using the electronic LeCAP form at your current school or college. If your school or college is not using the electronic version of the LeCAP form they may give you a paper LeCAP form to fill in.Your form will be sent to your chosen e2e provider and you will be asked to come to an interview.

You can still apply to e2e after you leave school. Your personal adviser can help you apply. Contact your local Connexions Centre to see your personal adviser.

Guaranteed offer of an E2E place in January

The 'January Guarantee' means that if you're aged 16 to 17 years old and you're not on a course, training or working in January 2010 you will be guaranteed an offer of a place on an Entry to Employment (E2E) course and EMA allowance of £30 a week to go with it. Your Connexions personal adviser will be able to help you find and apply for a suitable E2E course.
